FAQ
Measurement
1. How does it work?
BalanceMe uses contact photoplethysmography, which involves placing your fingertip on the built-in camera of your phone. This technology detects changes in light absorption caused by the pulsations of blood in your arteries. In simple terms, the app measures how light reflects off the blood in your fingertip at any given moment. When your heart beats, blood flow and light absorption increase. Between beats, they decrease. By analyzing this pattern, the app accurately tracks your heartbeat frequency and provides precise pulse measurements and reports.
2. How can I make the measurement results more precise?
To achieve optimal results, keep these tips in mind:
Hold your phone gently, maintaining a calm and relaxed state.
Use your fingertip to completely cover the rear camera.
Stay still throughout the entire measuring process until it's completed.
If you adhere to these basic steps, the app will provide reliable tracking and monitoring of your heart activity.
3. Is a fitness tracker necessary to use BalanceMe?
A fitness tracker is not necessary to use BalanceMe. You can take measurements simply with your smartphone’s camera.
4. Why does BalanceMe detect pulse from objects without life?
If BalanceMe detects a pulse on something besides your finger, there's no need to worry. This happens because the PPG technology detects changes in light, which can occasionally be triggered by non-living objects. However, BalanceMe is specifically optimized to provide accurate readings when measurements are taken with your index finger.
5. When is the ideal time to take measurements?
For the most accurate health tracking, it’s best to take your measurements every morning before getting out of bed. This is because your heart rate variability fluctuates throughout the day as your body expends energy. Once you're up and have had breakfast, your body starts engaging in various activities that could influence your measurement.
